Born 1857 London, England; died 1939 Aberdeen, Scotland; supporter of local government franchise for women in 1880s; publicly endorsed women suffrage in 1909 at Toronto meeting of the International Council of Women ; feminist activist and social reformer; presidencies included the English and Scottish Women’s Liberal Associations, the National Council of Women of Canada, and the International Council of Women.
